Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors may be smashing seven bells out of each other in Creed III, but outside the onscreen ring, the pair hope to fight to the top of their profession and emulate two icons of Hollywood.
Sometimes, certain actors come together and become associated with each other even if they don’t appear together all that often. Among this specific category are Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, who, despite popular belief, never appeared on screen together until the 1995 action movie Heat. In all, the pair have only appeared in the same movie on four occasions, with their other appearances being in Righteous Kill, The Godfather Part II, and The Irishman. However, now Majors and Jordan seem to have set their sights on having a similar iconic partnership in the future. Speaking with The New York Times, the pair responded to the possibility of working together again by saying:
Over the last several years, Michael B. Jordan has been building quite a resume. Having appeared as Killmonger in Black Panther and returning unexpectedly for a cameo appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, John Clark in the Tom Clancy movie Without Remorse, and as Adonis Creed in three Creed movies, Creed III marks a step up for Jordan as his directorial debut. While speaking to MovieWeb’s Nikki Sun at the Creed III premiere, Jordan expressed his hope to become a torchbearer for people like himself. He said:
It seems that Jordan certainly has his sights set on continuing his Hollywood journey, and whether that is with Majors or on his own, the actor has proven himself already, and it looks like Creed III is going to be his most significant achievement so far. The film has been gaining solid reviews, and the movie is set to take over $50 million domestically this weekend, sending it straight to the top of the box office and delivering yet another hit to the Rocky spin-off franchise. If Creed III is a sign of things to come from Jordan and Majors, then it could not have been a more positive start to their collaborations.
